🎸 The Hard but Rewarding Path

When I decided to record music with my band, I faced a harsh reality: I had no equipment. No audio interface, no proper amp, no recording software—just my guitar and a dream. But instead of giving up or buying an expensive Mac like everyone else, I chose a different path: I built my own Linux-based recording setup from scratch.

Starting from Zero

I had to learn everything from the ground up:

The Turning Point: PipeWire

After weeks of tweaking, I discovered PipeWire — and everything changed. Suddenly, I could:

It was hard. It was confusing. But once I understood the architecture, it became the most efficient and rewarding setup I’ve ever used.

đź’ˇ Why I Stuck with Linux

1. Cost Efficiency

No Mac, no expensive software licenses—just open-source tools that work as well (or better) than commercial alternatives.

2. Knowledge That Stays With Me

Learning how JACK, PipeWire, and ALSA work together wasn’t just about recording—it was about understanding audio at a deeper level. Now, I can troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and even share this knowledge with colleagues.

3. The Most Comfortable Way to Create

Once I mastered the setup, it became the easiest and most reliable way to record. No crashes, no compatibility issues—just pure creativity.
